About Laura

I have been a Licensed Massage Practitioner since the beginning of 1994, and I love working with clients, helping them heal through massage! I am committed to providing each client with the highest quality massage in a professional yet soothing and relaxing setting.

Why did I become a massage therapist?

I came across massage therapy almost by accident. My healing path began during college at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. It was here that I got a B.A. in Psychology. During this time I also became interested in studying not only about talk therapies, but also about Eastern philosophies and thought. I learned how to meditate when I was nineteen years old. It was when I was researching graduate programs in psychology that I had my first professional massage. I was profoundly struck by the power of the body/mind connection, and the simple joy of receiving massage! Not only did I feel relaxed in my muscles, but I felt a joy and lightheartedness welling up inside of me that seemed to spring from this therapeutic touch I was receiving. I decided that I could really make a difference helping people heal through this modality of massage therapy.

My Offering To You

What I offer to you is experience, quality, integrity, professionalism, trustworthiness, and value. My clients know that a massage with me is time and money well spent! I possess a unique combination of experience and a high level of training, plus an intuitiveness that allows me to achieve consistent results with people who are seeking relief from pain and stress, or who simply want to go inward and feel peaceful and relaxed. I specialize in therapeutic and relaxation massage utilizing Deep Tissue, Swedish, Neuromuscular Therapy, Reflexology and Polarity Therapy. I have also recently trained in Maya Abdominal Massage, and I'm in the process of getting my certification. Through the years I've given thousands of treatments, working with people who walk though my doors for all different reasons. These range from those with chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, to those with more acute work/sports related injuries and car accident injuries. There have also been many people who may have a high level of stress in their lives or who have emotional issues, or people who like to incorporate massage into their routine of prevention and relaxation! I also love to work with pregnant women, helping them to ease into motherhood in a relaxed and pain-free state of mind and body. I am committed to each client feeling comfortable and safe. Communication is the key to ensuring that boundaries are respected and that attention to the details of comfort, pressure and touch are consistent throughout each massage therapy session.
