The Practice : Toyohari

Toyohari is a form of traditional East Asian medicine that is a refined system of Japanese meridian acupuncture therapy. It is different from most other forms of acupuncture in that it uses more delicate (often non-inserted) needling and specialized treatment methods.

Toyohari acupuncture, while based on similar fundamental principles, is experienced in quite a different way by the patient. Clients receiving treatment are most likely to notice that the Toyohari approach is gentler and the practitioner’s touch and needling techniques feel lighter and less invasive. The ability to influence the flow of the energy (or qi) using such subtle techniques is specifically characteristic to Toyohari. It is largely based on the practitioner’s ability to feel and work with qi (life energy), placing great emphasis on the use of pulse diagnosis and palpation skills.

Since the treatment is pain free and less invasive than other forms of acupuncture it is particularly suited to children and for those who are wary of needles. Toyohari is a deceptively gentle yet extremely effective style of acupuncture.
